Looks like employers are becoming more generous and acknowledging the efforts and hard work of their employees more than ever before.

A.K. Shaji, owner of myG, an electronics and home appliances retail chain in the state of Kerala, gifted his employee CR Anish, a Mercedes Benz.

Anish, who is presently serving as the chief business development officer, has been working for Shaji for over two decades now. He has been associated with myG in various roles, across marketing, maintenance and development over the years.

Shaji is known for his generosity when it comes to acknowledging the contributions of his employees. He treats them as partners. About two years ago, he had gifted cars to six of his employees and has also sent some of his employees on foreign trips.

Shaji’s Instagram post acknowledges Anish’s “brotherly affection and immense focus and dedication towards work” and the fact that Anish has been “a strong pillar and a mainstay” for him.

This is not the first time that an employer has granted such an expensive gift to an employee in India or abroad.

Last year, in Surat, the Alliance Group had gifted its employees an e-scooter each. The gift had grabbed headlines then as it made for an ideal Diwali gift at a time when petrol prices had shot up drastically.

In July 2021, HCL, the IT services firm, had announced that it would gift Mercedes-Benz cars to top performers.

Sara Blakely, founder and CEO, Spanx, the shapewear firm, had gifted her employees two first-class Delta Airlines plane tickets in October 2021. Along with the tickets, she had also given them $10,000 in cash to take care of their expenses on the trip.
