On 3 October 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated a series of development projects valued at Rs 26,000 crore in Jagdalpur, situated in Bastar, Chhattisgarh. Simultaneously, he inaugurated the NMDC Steel plant located in Nagarnar. The newly established steel plant is expected to create employment opportunities for approximately 50,000 individuals.
During his address in Bastar, PM Modi stressed the critical importance of physical, digital and social infrastructure in the journey towards a developed nation. He highlighted Chhattisgarh’s distinguished position in steel manufacturing and underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure development.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister also discussed the electrification of the state’s railway network, the operation of Vande Bharat trains, and the Central government’s plans to modernise and enhance all state railway stations in the upcoming years.
Additionally, PM Modi inaugurated several projects, including a new railway line connecting Antagarh and Taroki, the expansion of the railway line between Jagdalpur and Dantewara, the Boridand-Surajpur railway line doubling project, the rejuvenation of Jagdalpur Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, and the introduction of the Taroki-Raipur diesel–electric multiple uni (DEMU) train service.
Another noteworthy development project in the state involves the improvement of the road section from Kunkuri to the Chhattisgarh-Jharkhand border on NH43.
