AirAsia elevates Pawan Setty to global role

Setty is now the strategic business partner at the Malaysian low-cost airline, and has shifted his base to Kuala Lumpur.

Pawan Setty, who was earlier head of people and culture, AirAsia, India moved to a new global role as the strategic business partner of the low-cost Malaysian airline. Setty has now shifted his base from Bengaluru to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He moved to his new role in mid February.

As of now he is also taking care of the HR operations in India, but very shortly someone from within will take over as the head, culture and people, AirAsia India.

An alumnus of Bangalore University, Setty started his career in 2001 and has a total industry experience of about 18 years. He started his corporate career working with Dell, where he spent two years. After a short stint of nine months with a company called PeopleOne, Setty moved to Thomson Reuters. In the over nine years he spent there, Setty rose to the level of a senior HR manager and carried out tasks related to compliance, role mapping, policy management and talent acquisition. He also carried out HR due diligence, monitored the BQ and ensured a robust talent pipeline in the company.

After this Setty joined International Flavours & Fragrances (IFF), India and worked there for four years. At IFF he served as the head, human resources working closely with the global head of human resources and the business directors for the APAC region. He drew their support for the implementation of the executive succession plan. Setty was able to hire great talent for key positions from a wide pool of qualified people and establish a smooth on-boarding structure for the new talents.

Setty is also a member of the board of the AirAsia Technology Centre, India.
