Anish Sarkar to lead Mercer’s consulting business in India

He will drive a number of strategic growth initiatives to broaden the current service and solution offerings, with a strong focus on the benefits and investments offerings. 

Anish Sarkar has been appointed as the country leader for consulting business, at Mercer, India. Sarkar moved from the Capgemini Group, where he was senior vice-president and head, consulting.

He has been instrumental in establishing Capgemini Consulting as a prominent consulting player in India. At Capgemini, he led the team across sales and account development, operations and business transformation, and technology practices.

Sarkar will join the IMETA Market Leadership team. He will report to Cameron Hannah and Sanjay Kedia, Marsh India’s country leader and CEO, respectively. His appointment is expected to strengthen relationships between Mercer’s sister companies.

His immediate mandate is to focus on driving a number of strategic growth initiatives to broaden the current service and solution offerings, with a strong focus on the benefits and investments offerings delivered by Mercer. Besides, he will also identify potential inorganic growth opportunities in India, including strategic business alliances.

The talent consulting and information solutions at Mercer will continue to be led by Shanthi Naresh.

Cameron Hannah, market leader – India, Middle East, Turkey and Africa (IMETA), Mercer, says in an official communique, “Sarkar brings with him a keen sense and understanding of the Indian market, which combined with his rich knowledge across sectors, makes him well placed to lead the strategic growth of our India business.”

Sarkar holds a BTech degree from IIT Kharagpur and an MBA from IIM Calcutta. An avid writer, his debut novel titled Benaami, which is a historical thriller in English, was published in 2010.
