DBS Bank gets Betty Lam as head-HR for Hong Kong

Lam has spent a considerable amount of time managing and leading people strategy in the BFSI sector

DBS Bank, Hong Kong has announced the appointment of Betty Lam as its managing director, head-HR. While being part of the DBS Hong Kong management committee, Lam will be responsible for driving the people agenda at the firm and also a rewarding and inclusive culture at DBS Hong Kong.

Lam joins from HSBC Hong Kong, where she was working as the head of HR. She spent more than eight years with the firm, having joined in 2014 as regional head of HR, retail banking & wealth management, Asia Pacific. A year into this role, she was promoted to head of HR at HSBC Hong Kong, where she was responsible for the overall people strategy as well as talent and employment programmes.

With more than 25 years of experience in HR, she carries a long relationship with the HSBC brand. In fact, in the initial phase of her career, Lam had also spent about a year with HSBC as an HR executive.

At the start of her career itself Lam had the opportunity to hone her skills  in the banking and financial services sector. She worked for brands such as Bank of America, AIG and ABN AMRO. It was in 2004 that she assumed the position of VP-HR at CITI Bank for corporate and investment banking in Hong Kong. After spending a considerable amount of time in the BFSI sector, Lam joined PepsiCo as director, talent acquisition and spent six years at the firm. Post PepsiCo, Lam decided to move on to AIA, a global banking and finance company as director – HRBP.
