SUGAR Cosmetics, the Indian beauty brand, has appointed Nirav Jagad as chief people officer (CPO).

With over 19 years of experience, Jagad was a startup advisor for a while, after working with LEAD School as CHRO for eight months.

Jagad was associated with Nykaa for over three years, as chief human resources officer (CHRO).

In the initial years of his career, Jagad was associated with Welingkar Institute of Management as core faculty for two years. He then served as manager at Emmay HR Services for two years, before joining EmmayHR, a Randstad company, as senior manager – learning and development, in 2007.

From 2009 to 2012, he worked as senior consultant at Cerebrus Consultants, looking into organisation restructuring, organisation design, leadership development plan, competency and skills matrices, and performance management system among other aspects of HR.

From 2012 to 2017, he served as group head – talent development and organisation transformation, at Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS). It was after a successful five-year long stint at IL&FS that he joined Nykaa in 2017.

Known for his extremely focussed, methodical and diligent approach to work, Jadav will now oversee all aspects of SUGAR’s talent and culture initiatives. Additionally, he will drive strategic and transformational results while working closely with the leadership of the company and its diverse cross-functional team across India. That means, he will oversee people operations, employee wellbeing and culture building, with a tech-driven employee experience and talent value proposition.

Jadav, who is an alumnus of Mumbai University and Welingkar Institute of Management, has in-depth understanding of the rapidly-changing needs of a fast-paced organisation.

In his new assignment, he will lead a people-first agenda to further drive employee empowerment, growth and retention, while remaining committed to SUGAR’s key business drivers and values.

Given his “extensive experience in talent acquisition and people operations”, Vineeta Singh, co-founder, and CEO, SUGAR Cosmetics, is confident that Jadav “will work closely with the leadership to shape the overall organisational culture and talent pool in the company.”

Jagad is eager to support SUGAR’s employees and prioritise a strong, inclusive culture. He looks forward to working with the leadership team and the people team “to help SUGAR seize this outsized opportunity and create sustained value for our workforce, consumers, partners and investors.”
