GAIL has announced the appointment of Ayush Gupta as the new director – HR. In this role, Gupta would lead the HR function of the public-sector undertaking (PSU). Also part of the Board of Directors of GAIL Gas, Gupta carries close to three decades of professional experience in the field of training and human resource development, talent acquisition, leadership development, performance management, HRD Initiatives, project management and operations & maintenance.
Prior to this appointment, Gupta was the chief general manager (HRD) at GAIL and has spent more than 24 years in the Company. He joined the PSU as a senior manager, managing operations and maintenance.
In his initial years with the Company, Gupta was involved in the implementation of the City Gas Distribution network in the Taj trapezium zone and led several initiatives to bring down the stock loss in the region.
In his two decade long career at GAIL, Gupta is known for successfully leading improvements in various human resource development (HRD) systems, processes and practices including the digital initiatives for better engagement and enhancement of employee experience. He has been instrumental in formulating talent-acquisition strategies to build a strong HR pipeline for the organisation.
Gupta started his career as a graduate engineering trainee(GET) at INSILCO, a chemical manufacturing firm, which gave him his first exposure to the manufacturing and industrial world.
An electrical engineering graduate from IIT Roorkee, he also carries an MBA in operation management. Apart from being an accomplished professional, Gupta has a knack for writing and has co-authored a book called Natural Gas Markets in India published by Springer International. He has also won awards for his papers published and presented at national and international forums.
