He plans to enhance a high-performance work culture by inculcating a culture of learning, innovation and teamwork with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Chandrashekhar Mukherjee, chief people officer, National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), who had quit the organisation last month, has joined Srei Infrastructure Finance as the group chief people officer. Mukherjee, who joined the infrastructure financing firm on June 8, has shifted base to Kolkata.

Mukherjee confirms the appointment to HRKatha and adds that he will report to the shareholders in his new role. Talking of his role, he says, “I am looking forward to creating a world class multi-cultural talent pool to achieve the ambitious vision of the organisation and its shareholders.”

He adds that he is looking to enhance the high-performance work culture by inculcating a culture of learning, innovation and teamwork with an entrepreneurial mindset. Mukherjee will be responsible for handling the entire people function for the USD10 bn firm’s group companies including all 140 entities, with a total workforce numbering 9,500.

At NSE, Mukherjee was responsible for the corporate human resource function for NSE and its group companies. His new role entails a significant leap in terms of responsibilities, and he adds that with close to 10,000 employees here, the exposure is larger.

Before joining NSE, he was associate vice president, HR, and branch head, Mumbai at Bennett Coleman & Company, Times of India Group. He has also worked with Cabot India, Colgate-Palmolive India and Usha India in the past.

Mukherjee, a commerce graduate from the University of Allahabad, pursued post-graduation in human resources from Institute of Engineering & Rural Technology.
