Prof. Nagarajan Ramamoorthy takes charge as director, IIM-Amritsar

Prof. Ramamoorthy, who has taught at the University of Maryland and the University of Houston-Victoria, has also worked with the Tata Group.

Prof. Nagarajan Ramamoorthy has recently been appointed the director, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Amritsar, which is the 15th IIM set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development with the support of the Government of Punjab four years back.

Having received his postgraduate diploma in personnel management & industrial relations from XLRI, Jamshedpur, he also obtained a PhD in business and management from the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, US.

He worked for Indian Airlines, Brakes India (TVS Group) and Voltas (Tata Group) before pursuing doctoral studies from the Robert H Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, US. He was part of the faculty at University of Maryland, Marymount University, and University of Houston-Victoria, where he held many positions, such as the founding chair of the management and marketing department, a member of the school’s executive team for AACSB accreditation, member of the president’s cabinet and academic council, and president of the Faculty Council.

He received two Fulbright teaching and research scholarships to Bulgaria (University of National and World Economy, Sofia) & Latvia (University of Applied Sciences, Valmiera), as well as Inter-Country exchange scholarship to Austria (University of Applied Sciences, St. Poelten) among others. He has also served on the peer review team for Fulbright Council for three years in the US.

In addition, Ramamoorthy was part of the editorial boards of several leading international journals.
