    Rohit Johar joins Amazon as HR director, India

    After a successful decade-long stint with Genpact, Rohit Johar, moves to Amazon as HR director, India. His last-held position at Genpact was that of VP, global HR leader, banking & financial services.

    Johar had joined Genpact in 2012, as assistant VP GE Capital and HR site leader. By 2017, he was VP, global operations leader. Less than two years into this role, he was elevated to VP- digital transformation and M&A. In this role, he successfully led the functional Integration strategy for four global acquisitions (Israel, US, UK, Australia). By 2021, he had been elevated to VP, global HR leader, banking & financial services.

    Armed with an MBA in marketing and HR, from Faculty of Management Studies, Jabalpur, Johar started his HR journey with the Goodricke Group, where he worked as manager – HR for over five years, based out of Kolkata. In 2005, he was elevated to the position of head – HR.

    At Goodricke, he developed frameworks and implemented talent-management practices across the organisation. He also instituted performance-management systems for the various business units of retail division, plantation division and the corporate office. He developed knowledge-management frameworks, which helped benchmark domain requirements linked to career progression. He was the one who enabled the talent-management mechanism to start up the retail division, which grew to a 750-member organisation.

    Known to be a detail-oriented leader with excellent critical-thinking skills, Johar has a proven ability to lead and inspire large global teams, with a track record of aligning business and human capital priorities impacting business outcomes. In his new assignment at Amazon, he will be based out of Gurugram.
