Indian Railways announces biggest employment drive of the year

The Railways has announced more than 26,000 vacancies for the post of assistant loco pilot and technician posts.

In one of the biggest recruitment drives undertaken by the Indian Railways in recent times, it has announced a total of 26,502 vacancies for various posts, including assistant loco pilots and technicians.

The employment drive aims to provide job opportunity to 10th pass and diploma holders. The candidates interested in applying can do so by visiting the official website of the Indian Railways, latest by March 5. The aspirants should be in the age group of 18 to 30 years. Age relaxation will be applicable for the reserved category candidates as per the government rules. Apart from this, OBC applicants will get a relaxation of up to three years, while the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates will get a relaxation of up to five years.

Indian Railways is offering a salary of level 02 of the 7th CPC pay matrix with an initial pay of Rs 19,900 plus allowances. The candidates selected for the post of ALP and technicians will further undergo training as per the directive.

The selection will be based on the result of a two-staged examination. The applicants for ALP, who qualify the second stage CBT will undergo computer-based aptitude test (AT). As per the notification, the applicants should fulfil all eligibility criteria prescribed for the posts, and those awaiting results of prescribed educational qualification should not apply. There are a total of 21 boards including Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bilaspur, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, J&K, Kolkata, Malda, Mumbai, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Ranchi, Secundrabad, Siliguri and Thiruvanthapuram.

The notification further states that as part of the call letter, the scheduled caste or tribe candidates will be given free sleeper-class railway passes for travelling to attend various stages of selection.
