Multinationals, such as Hilton Worldwide, Convergys, Xerox, Dell, Intuit, ADP, IBM and SAP come under the top 30.

Organisations across geographies and industrial sectors are opening up to the idea of working from remote locations or from home as more and more employees see it as a feasible way of working. In fact, studies have shown that people working from home are not only happier but more productive. However, finding legitimate work-from-home opportunities isn’t that easy.

Showcasing a list of top 100 companies offering telecommuting opportunities in 2017, FlexJobs, a company that vets all types of flexible job listings including part-time, telecommuting and freelance, recently released its annual ‘Top 100 companies for remote jobs’.

The annual list comprises the companies that offered the highest number of remote job listings in the FlexJobs database in 2016, out of a total of 47,000 such companies. It includes jobs that allow for telecommuting both part-time and full-time. The opportunities listed by the site are pre-vetted, and one can avail a paid access to the list.

Multinationals, such as Hilton Worldwide, Convergys, Xerox, Dell, Intuit, ADP, IBM and SAP come under the top 30, while Nielsen stands at number 39, Aon at 49, Adobe at 51, Sodexo at 53, American Express at 65 and Lenovo at 92.

Industries that are most likely to offer remote work include the computer and information technology fields, medical and health, customer service, education and training, sales, and finance.

The study also reveals the various reasons people like to work from home or from remote locations. The most common reasons include, finding more time and efficiency, reduced stress, health and medical reasons, and balancing childcare and professional life.

Sara Sutton Fell, founder and CEO of FlexJobs shared that this year, the results are in line with the overall growth trends observed by the company in the flexible job marketplace, with increasingly diverse companies turning to the ‘TRaD’ (or telecommuting, remote, and distributed) model of work as an integrated business practice.
