With data security and privacy gaining focus today, the demand for cyber security specialists is rising. According to a report by Indeed, the job search platform, with increased digitisation in the country, companies are putting in extra efforts to ensure and improve data security and privacy. Incidents of data breach are becoming quite common in Indian companies, and therefore, the need for experienced cyber security specialists is also growing. Apparently, there has been a 98 per cent increase in cyber security job postings in the last three years.

Not only are there enough opportunities available in the cyber security space, but millenials have been found to be interested in taking up jobs as security specialists and IT analysts in this field.

The demand for talent skilled in information security, network security, penetration testing and vulnerability assessment is the highest in Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad.

Following the new policies proposed by the Government, pertaining to storage and protection of data, businesses are focussing on complying with the data-processing framework to establish a more secure environment that is protected from breach of data.

LinkedIn’s Emerging Jobs 2020 Report also revealed that cyber security specialists have the highest demand in India, while at the global level, there is a scarcity of cyber security professionals.

It is reported that approx. 67,000 job openings are available in cyber security, including threat management, network security, and cloud security roles.
