The Cabinet in Germany has approved the draft of several measures that will make it easy for Indian talent and skilled workers to take up jobs in Germany. Many of these measures are aimed to draw Indian workers, who are often discouraged by the requirement of German language skills. The German government is desirous of offering German language classes to Indian workers who wish to relocate to Germany.

Additionally, plans are on to digitalise visas by December 2024 to make the migration process convenient. Already steps have been taken to cut short the visa processing times for Indians from 9 months to 14 days.

The Federal Labour Office is also looking to proactively guide Indian college students who are studying in Germany.

According to Schengen.News, while Germany’s economy is doing well, its population is ageing and there is a dearth of skilled workers. The issue is only growing worse with each passing day. That is the reason why the country is depending heavily on Indian talent in various professions.

The number of Indians working in Germany has increased four times over the last decade. In 2015, as per the data from the labour ministry, there were about 23,000 Indians in Germany, and the number has grown to over 1.37 lakh now, which is a big leap

In August, it was reported that Germany had issued a whopping 80,000 work visas during the first half of 2024. Half of these visas were allocated to skilled workers, marking a 3,000 increase from the previous year’s figures for the same period.
