Rakuten, the Tokyo-based e-commerce and Internet company, which currently has a 450 strong workforce in India, is said to be planning to double its staff strength in the country in the next year or so. The Company has been steadily adding to its workforce, with nearly 150 new additions in the last one year.
With plans to shift the major part of Rakuten’s technology operations to India, the expansion is a move in the right direction. Also, the Japanese company recognises its India operations as a significant part of its technology processes, and not just an offshore operating centre.
In keeping with its growth plans, the Company is reported to have taken up a more spacious office.
