    Invisible faces of your company

In any company, there is always a bunch of people who go unnoticed— the invisible faces of the organisation. Though they are never in the limelight, they do play a very important role in the wrinkle-free running of the company.

These faces belong to the support staff—the men and women responsible for clean floors and furniture, availability of drinking water and the security of the premises.

These are just some of the visible manifestations of their work. They actually do a lot more so that you can focus on your job and not worry about the mundane stuff. Let us look at how a company brought joy into the lives of its security guys and house-keeping staff through a very thoughtful gesture.

Apollo Munich Health Insurance (AMHI) ushered in a special Christmas in February, exclusively for its support staff. The Company brought smiles to the faces of its support staff by giving them gifts, which each one of them had wished for.

    Paramjit Singh

“It was an emotional moment for all when they spoke on the mike and thanked us. With teary eyes they showed us gratitude for the bikes they had wished for their children and the mixer-grinders for their homes”

On February 25, the employees played the role of Santa Claus and showered the support staff with presents, with each one getting exactly what they wanted.

Telling us more about how the ‘gift a smile’ initiative was conceptualised, Paramjit Singh Nayyar, CHRO, Apollo Munich Health Insurance said, “Our vision is to make India health confident. However, we try to do so by not just offering health insurance, but trying to make this world a better place. ‘Gift a smile’ was invented as a part of this overarching theme to bring smiles to the faces of the hundred odd support staff.”

They say that positivity is contagious, and if you are surrounded by happy people, you are energised. The same modus operandi works behind ‘gift a smile’.

The employees prepared a tree with the names of all the support staff and against each name a gift item was added that she/he had wished for. The employees demonstrated immense generosity and volunteered to sponsor one or more gifts. What remained was then sponsored by the Company.

What a great way to live up to the saying, ‘the more we give the more we get’! The employees showered bicycles, mixers and grinders, music systems and many more gifts that each one wanted in the curated ceremony. It was an emotional moment for all as the receivers spoke about their joy and gratitude in the ceremony.

“’Gift a smile’ was conceived to recognise the support staff for their work and make them feel special. It was an emotional moment for all when they spoke on the mike and thanked us. With teary eyes they showed us gratitude for the bikes they had wished for their children and the mixer-grinders for their homes,” narrates Nayyar.

Not just smiles, AMHI also spreads light through their programme for the upliftment of the girl child in rural India. Called ‘Roshani’ the programme is aimed to make India health confident.

Under the Roshani programme, AMHI has reached out to 10,000 rural families with a mission to educate and create employment opportunities for the girl child. Through this initiative, the Company takes complete responsibility of the girl child — from education to employment.
