With many aviation companies making vaccination compulsory for their employees in the US, Boeing will also require its entire US workforce to get inoculated. The Company has ordered its 1.25 lakh-strong workforce to get the vaccines before December 8. The move is in compliance with an executive order issued by President Joe Biden for federal contractors.

The Company will require its workforce to either show proof of vaccination or present an approved reasonable excuse on the basis of disability or religious belief by the stipulated date, the Company announced recently. Boeing intends to carefully follow the guidance from public-health agencies and requirements from federal, state and local governments as far as the COVID-19 policies are concerned.

However, this vaccination requirement will not apply to local sites immediately. Boeing houses over 5,000 employees in the state of Texas, where executive order from the governor barred COVID-19 vaccine mandates by any entity. Texas will be subject to the vaccination policy once it is covered under the Biden administration’s executive order.

Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) union of the US has commented that, in a bid to ensure the successful implementation of the policy, it will make sure that employers are giving proper consideration to members’ concerns, health issues and abiding by the provisions of negotiated contracts.
