The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services, has announced the second phase of its ‘saudisation’ initiative, aiming to increase local citizen participation in the aviation sector. This phase, commencing on March 4, 2024, specifically targets licensed aviation professions within private companies employing at least five individuals in these roles.
The initiative aims to create stable and attractive employment opportunities for both men and women, enhancing their integration into the workforce. The targeted professions in this second phase include Flight Attendants (60 per cent focus) and Fixed-Wing Pilots (70 per cent focus), both requiring professional accreditation certificates from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).
The Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services has pledged its full support for this phase, offering comprehensive assistance and employment programs through the Human Resources and Social Development system.
This aims to empower private sector establishments by facilitating the recruitment and attraction of qualified Saudi talent.
The Ministry has also issued a comprehensive guide outlining the initiative’s details, implementation mechanisms, and the support programs available to participating companies.
This second phase of ‘saudisation’ builds upon the program’s initial success in increasing local citizen participation in various sectors. By focusing on key aviation professions, the initiative seeks to equip Saudi citizens with the necessary skills and qualifications to contribute to the nation’s growing aviation industry, while simultaneously creating sustainable and rewarding career opportunities for its citizens.
