OYO will be expanding its workforce in India, by hiring more than 3,000 employees in the next six months. The hospitality company, which offers a website for booking budget lodgings, is planning to invest Rs 1400 crore by the end of this year, in not just India but also South Asia.

With the new wave of hiring, the Company’s workforce strength, which is currently 9000, is expected to reach about 12000+.

The new hires will be appointed to various positions in the areas of business development, operations, service, sales and enterprise partnerships.

It has already hired more than 2020 tech experts and engineers.

The strengthened workforce will help OYO perform well in the hospitality space in India by offering more value for money. The Company will continue to work towards its goal of offering memorable experiences at affordable rates.

Earlier this year, the Company was given funds by Airbnb, the American home-renting company. With the help of other investors, SoftBank (a Japanese multinational conglomerate), Didi Chuxing ( a mobile transportation platform) and Grab (a ride-hailing company), more than a billion dollars were raised.

Recently, the online hotel aggregator had made headlines for all the wrong reasons. It had reportedly refused a room to a person from Kashmir, on the basis of the Jammu and Kashmir address on his Aadhar card. However, later OYO had apologised to the customer.
