Comviva, a firm part of the Tech Mahindra group, will hire around 600 engineers by July next year, that is, 2022, to be able to fulfil the needs of the growing business and also lessen the effects of attrition.

The Gurugram-headquartered telecommunications company, which has been experiencing a high level of attrition, is working on expanding into tier 2 cities, with the focus currently on Bhubaneswar. The centre at Bhubaneswar was launched about three years ago, where the team is only about 20 strong. Over the next three months or so, this team is expected to grow to about 70. In the next two years, the team strength is expected to go up to about 300 at the centre.

Comviva, which provides IT solutions for mobile apps and technologies, is expecting a revenue growth of about 10 to 12 per cent this financial year.

The plan is to set up a centre of excellence (COE) at Bhubaneswar for mobile applications. The Company is looking at activities pertaining to mobile devices, including creating software for wearables (smart watches) to facilitate payments, transfer of payments and so on via smartwatches. Work on such technologies as well as mobile money and digital banking will take place at the Bhubaneswar COE.

The Company’s currently 2,000-strong team will expand by at least 600 employees every year.
