    ‘Campus to Corporate’ programme for better placement in Odisha launched

    The programme aims to create industry-ready human resources and better placement of the management graduates. 

    Entrepreneurship and job creation in the state has been the focus of the Odisha Government recently. The Government has taken several steps in this direction by opening skill centres and entrepreneurship hubs in the State.

    Working towards creation of more jobs, the Odisha Management Colleges’ Association (OMCA) has launched the ‘Campus to Corporate’ programme, with an aim to create better employment opportunities for management graduates.

    The decision was taken at a management conclave organised by the association, which had participation of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), several government college, universities, corporate houses and the Government.

    The Association will act as the interface between colleges and corporate houses. Apart from the focus on placement of the students from these colleges, the programme will create industry-ready human resources.

    Bankim Mohanty, vice president, OMCA said “Management courses are becoming popular in Odisha. The number of students is also increasing every year. With the help of AICTE, we will design courses which can help the students get placements in different industries”.

    He further added that they will help the placement agencies to find the right persons according to their industry need. “For example, a college is good at rural management courses; we will coordinate with the industries, which need talented graduates in this sector, so that the target can be fulfilled easily”.

    M P Poonia, vice chairman of AICTE said, “If you want to do something for rural India, take up at least 25 people of a village or panchayat and increase their incomes through innovative ideas. Students should go to nearby villages and inspire the youth and people to be small entrepreneurs”.

    She advised the management institutions and students to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) to help rural people, particularly the youth, develop a profitable livelihood.

    Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Minister, Prafulla Samal, advised the colleges and students to extend the ‘Campus to Corporate’ programme to rural areas. He added, “Choose intelligent students of rural areas, teach them and connect them with corporate houses. If you create such talents, we will help you”.
