There is good news for over 7.5 lakh employees of the Madhya Pradesh government. There is to be a hike in their dearness allowance or DA, which will now be 34 per cent instead of the earlier 31 per cent. Pensioners will also benefit from this hike.
According to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Madhya Pradesh government will have to bear an additional burden of Rs 625 crore post the implementation of this hike.
This hike is aimed at bringing the DA of state government employees at par with that of Central government staff.
The last time the DA was hiked, the state government had granted an increment of 11 per cent. That is how it had come to be 31 per cent.
The hiked DA will be implemented starting this month, that is, August 2022. That means, the employees will receive the increased DA with their August salary in September.
In January this year, the Odisha government had increased the DA of government employees and pensioners by three per cent, bringing it up to 31 per cent. The hike was effective from July, 2021.
Last week, the Government of Uttarakhand also increased the DA of state government employees by three per cent with effect from 1 January, 2022.
Henceforth, over 45,000 employees of corporations and local bodies in Uttarakhand will enjoy DA of 34 per cent instead of the earlier 31 per cent.
Uttar Pradesh had also announced a similar hike in DA for state government employees recently.
