Delhi Government has directed the Directorate of Education to propose an increase in salary for guest teachers employed in the government schools of Delhi. The move is a way to show gratitude to the hard-working guest teachers whose contribution was invaluable during the pandemic.
A delegation from the Dilli Atithi Shikshak Sangh set up a meeting with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia during which it submitted a representation on the behest of the guest teachers.
“As a token of gratitude to the guest teachers teaching in Delhi government schools, the Kejriwal government has ordered to increase their salaries. This comes as a gift ahead of the upcoming New Year and will provide significant relief to them in the pandemic,” the statement released by the government stated.
The Chief Minister expressed his happiness at the fact that “the Government has started the process to increase the salary of guest teachers.”
The revision in salaries was requested by the guest teachers and the Delhi government finally decided to hike their salaries taking into account the difficulties they faced to maintain a certain standard of living amidst the rising cost of commodities during the pandemic.
A detailed proposal to the effect will be submitted soon, as informed by the Chief Minister. The move, it is hoped, “will enable them to live their life with dignity and continue to render their services wholeheartedly at Delhi government schools,” said Kejriwal.
