EPFO’s new feature to keep tab on contractors’ claims

Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched a new feature with the help of which principal employers can now check the compliances of those employees who have been employed through contractors.

This electronic facility allows employers to add the details of their contract staff engaged through contractors at the portal provided for the purpose: https://unifiedportal-emp.epfindia.gov.in/epfo/.

This facility will help principal employers check the wage amount against which the EPF money has been paid by the contactor as well as employer’s share paid as part of the contract entered into with the contractor.

As per the Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana (PMRPY) and Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY) schemes run by the Centre, contractors are allowed to claim both the employee’s as well as employer’s share of EPF contribution from the Central government.

Now, the principal employers will be able to use the portal to check the benefits the contractors claim from the Centre for the contract workers and what they are paid by the employers themselves.

Amidst the pandemic, EPFO has ensured that subscribers now do not need to visit the PF office to check account balance, withdraw money from a deposit account or update details of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) account. They can manage all of this from the comfort of their own home.

All that the subscribers need to do to check their PF account balance through SMS, is to send ‘EPFOHO UAN LAN’ from their registered mobile number to 7738299899. Here, LAN is the first the letters of the language one prefers, that is, HIN for Hindi, ENG for English and so on.

Good & useful for tracking the deposition of PF by contractor for their employees.
