In a major revamp exercise, the Commissioner of Delhi Police, Rakesh Asthana, announced that the city’s police will be getting their own human resources (HR) division soon. The division will be handling units such as personnel management, training and welfare for the police force. Special Commissioner Sundari Nanda (headquarters and general administration) will control the newly created human resources division, which will look into personnel management and training along with welfare of the police personnel among other things. Nanda (IAS Cadre 1988) has been with the Delhi Police since 2019. Prior to that, she had served as the director general of police, Government of Puducherry.
The overall revamp plans of the force also include strengthening of the anti-terror unit. The unit will be getting four new DCP rank officers and four new verticals, which will keep a check on the evolving threat perceptions and security of the NCR.
‘Law and Order’ will also be split into two zones henceforth. Special Commissioner Dependra Pathak and Satish Golcha would be in charge of Zone I and II, respectively.
