Godrej Consumer products to create 400 jobs in Tamil Nadu

With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu, Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL) will now be able to establish a manufacturing plant in the state. The new facility will create 400 job opportunities in the state.

The move is part of GVPL’s plan to ensure convenient access to significant markets in the southern region. The facility — which will come up in Thiruporur Taluk, Chengalpattu District, close to Chennai in Tamil Nadu — is aimed at enhancing GCPL’s manufacturing capabilities and making a significant contribution to the company’s overall production capacity. It will function as a central manufacturing hub for a diverse range of many well-recognised brands and products, such as Cinthol, Godrej Expert Rich Crème, Godrej Selfie Shampoo Hair Colour and Goodknight.

Equipped with energy-efficient technologies and strategies for minimising waste, the facility will also have solar roof panels, zero liquid discharge (ZLD) systems and practices aimed at eliminating landfill waste. The company also intends to implement water-conservation techniques and rainwater harvesting to attain a positive water balance. That means, along with enhancing market presence, the unit will promote sustainable development in Tamil Nadu.

The facility will foster an inclusive and gender-balanced workforce. It is GCPL’s aim to ensure that women comprise 50 per cent of the workforce at this facility. Additionally, there will be five per cent representation from the LGBTQ and people with disabilities (PWD) communities.
