Home Minister of Puducherry A Namassivayam has announced that a recruitment drive to hire 1,000 police personnel is to begin soon. The drive will be completed by the end of the year. He reveals this at an event to celebrate the promotion of 163 police officers, including sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors.

About 360 candidates will be hired for the post of constable by January 20, 2022. The recruitment process is being carried out in phases. In the second phase, 300 more constables and 400 home guards are going to be added to the police force. The Government had to take the Union Ministry of Home Affairs’ permission for the direct recruitment of around 47 sub-inspectors.

The Home Minister congratulated the police workers for their tireless work to ensure that the New Year celebrations passed without any mishaps in the state.

The Government is making efforts to improve the working conditions of the police force by addressing their service requirements. As part of these measures, they’ve already been granted a uniform allowance and will soon clarify pending decisions in the near future.

Elsewhere, the Namakkal District Police along with eight private colleges organized a computer-literacy training programme for police personnel recently. They were taught the basics along with cyber-crime prevention and cyber-crime awareness. About 393 police personnel underwent the training, and were later also presented certificates.
