In a bid to make information on inoculation of employees easily accessible for employers, the Union Health Ministry has activated a new service on the CoWIN portal that allows service providers and employers to check their vaccination status.
“A new feature, ‘Know your Vaccination Status’ has been enabled on the CoWIN digital platform. This will help to verify/retrieve a citizen’s vaccination status/details as per the authorised rights of the verifying entity by Co-WIN/MoHFW,” says the Government.
Of course, the process of checking the vaccination status will require the employers to get a consent from the persons in question. The checker will be required to enter the individual’s registered number and name. An OTP will be sent to the registered number, that is, the employee. The service can be accessed by individuals under the ‘Know Your Vaccination Status’ tab of the application.
The feature can be utilised by private entities, such as offices, employers and agencies including government bodies such as the IRCTC, where verifying a personnel’s inoculation status will be essential for business.
This new CoWIN service will allow concerned authorities access to check the vaccine certificates of their employees who do not have it with them in digital form or as a hard copy.
This provision available on the the e-portal will also serve airports, travel agencies and any other businesses where they require to track and verify the vaccination status of a perspective client.
Additionally, the vaccination portal will also display a ‘partially vaccinated’ or ‘fully vaccinated’ badge on a person’s CoWIN profile.
