Apple to eliminate few roles in corporate retail teams

Recent news reports suggest that Apple is making some changes to its corporate retail teams, leading to job cuts in the company’s development and preservation departments. Although the exact number of jobs affected by these layoffs is unclear, sources indicate that the impact is expected to be minimal.

Along with these job cuts, employees at Apple are reportedly being asked to reapply for their current positions or else face the possibility of termination, according to a report by Business Insider.

The divisions hit hardest by the layoffs are those in charge of building and maintenance of Apple’s retail outlets and other infrastructure worldwide. These teams are critical in ensuring that Apple’s stores and facilities are maintained to a high standard, and their work is essential to the company’s success in the retail sector.

Even Big Tech companies are not immune to these challenges, as Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook) announced last month that it would cut 10,000 jobs in 2022, following a previous round of 11,000 layoffs. Similarly, Google laid off 12,000 employees earlier this year, while Amazon has already let go of 27,000 employees over two rounds of job cuts.
