On December 21, 2022, Elon Musk said that he would soon resign as the Twitter CEO. The tweet comes after his poll on Monday. On December 19, 2022, he posted a poll on Twitter asking whether he should step down as Twitter CEO. He wrote, “Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.” According to the poll results, 57.7 per cent of people voted yes, and the rest, 43 per cent, wanted Musk to remain as Twitter Inc.’s CEO.

On Wednesday Musk tweeted: “I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software and server teams.” The CEO is actively looking for a replacement.

On Monday, “No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive. There is no successor,” was Musk’s reply to a tweet.

Last month, Musk said that he does not want to be the CEO of any company, be it Tesla or Twitter.

A Bloomberg report showed the Tesla and SpaceX CEOs’ net worth on Tuesday tumbled to $7.7 billion. Musk lost $122.6 billion in 2022, which is more than what he gained in 2021. The current net worth of Musk is $147.7 billion, which is the lowest in more than two years.

The billionaire has piled up allegations ranging from banning journalists to harsh working conditions. The company has also laid off thousands of its employees in the last few months.
