PowerSchool, an EdTech company specialising in cloud-based K-12 education software in North America, aims to increase its workforce in India. In a recent announcement, the company has said to increase its current Indian workforce from 1300 to 2000,in the next three to five years.

The company plans to hire across all its business units in India, emphasising roles in research and development, product innovation, customer service and success, marketing and sales. It will be recruiting for key positions in technology, such as data scientists and experts in artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML).

To accomplish the ambitious hiring plan, the company has invested approximately Rs 40 crore to expand its Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru from 75,000 sq. ft. to 112,000 sq. ft.

Additionally, PowerSchool plans to expand its Chennai office in 2024 as part of its growth strategy for the Indian EdTech sector. Meanwhile, the company’s Bengaluru centre will focus on integrating the latest technology into PowerSchool’s EdTech products to address challenges faced by educators and enhance student-learning outcomes.

Earlier in the year, PowerSchool acquired Jarulss Software Solutions (Neverskip), a Chennai-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) software company, to strengthen its presence in India, reaching more than 900 schools and 1.2 million students. The expanded Bengaluru CoE not only signifies dedication to the Indian market but also serves as a strategic hub for expansion plans in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

The company is committed to fostering AI/ML skills integral to its product innovation strategy, playing a crucial role in shaping the future of educational technology. PowerSchool presently serves over 50 million students in more than 90 countries.
