41 employees were laid off because of performance issues at Practo, a healthcare startup. According to the statement given by the company, Practo is not going through any restructuring; rather, the company is solely focused on business strengthening and is making an effort to complete its mission of building healthcare for India all across the country.
According to a Livemint report, the company made a statement saying that Practo aims to hire 500 people in the next year, in addition to their already-hired 500 workers.
In the said statement, it was also mentioned that these 41 employees were laid off because of their employment contracts. The company places a high emphasis on performance and productivity to maintain growth. Nevertheless, Practo has stated that they will offer necessary support to the affected employees.
The company has 14 investors, with CapitalG and Sofina being the most recent ones. Shashank ND, co-founder and CEO, Practo, has revealed that the company’s current focus is on constructing infrastructure for secondary healthcare. Practo is the most recent company to join the layoff trend.
Dunzo, an online delivery platform, has also declared plans to cut 30 percent of its total workforce, or 300 employees. During an organisation-wide call, followed by a town hall meeting that included a Q&A session, Dunzo announced the layoffs. The affected workers were informed of the decision during individual meetings with their managers.
