Is Dunzo delaying the payment of salaries to its staff yet again? If reports are to be believed, the employees will have to wait till October to get their June and July salaries. These salaries will be paid with 12 per cent interest. The quick commerce startup is in the midst of a financial crisis.
The firm has been trying to gather funds of at least $75 million from its existing and new investors, while it may require up to $ 150 million. Its efforts are expected to bear fruit by September, which is probably why the employees have been informed recently that salary dues will be cleared by October. While the salary for August will be paid in September, the salaries for June and July will be further delayed to October.
About 15 per cent of the workforce that had not got their June salaries will also have to wait another month for the pending salary. That means, Dunzo is going back on its earlier promise of paying the salaries of June to August by the 4th of September.
Earlier this month, the employees at Dunzo’s dark stores in Bengaluru had opted to not resume their duties due to the delay in receiving their salaries for the month of July. The salary delay had affected about 1,000 employees. The company that once managed about 250 dark stores, is now left with just about seven in the city of Bengaluru.
