Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), leading Indian software services firm, has revealed that it has hired over 7,000 employees in the UK, in the last five years. It is now the second largest provider of IT services in the UK, in terms of revenue, in 2020.

Little wonder then that TCS has become one of the top recruiters in the IT sector in the country. The Company’s customer-centric and differentiated offerings have boosted its revenue and recent gains in market shares.

The 7,000 employees hired locally in the UK also include 1,800 trainees. Currently the number of employees hired from at least 30 different locations in the US stands at 18,000.

Having an international employee base, TCS’s workforce comprises youngsters from about 54 nationalities. Women make up around 28 per cent of the employees worldwide, higher than the total 17 per cent found in the UK’s IT sector.

The Company has also upskilled more than 90 per cent of its UK staff in the past two years, clearly reflecting its commitment to nurturing local IT talent. The multinational is also investing in young tech professionals by equipping them with relevant skills to pursue STEM subjects and other careers in the IT industry.

Working with over 200 companies in the UK alone, TCS helps British companies leverage digital tech to launch innovative products and provides services to instill growth and fulfill their transformation objectives. About 15 per cent of TCS’ business revenue comes from the UK.
