At a time when the entire country is uncertain about the state of the economy, as well as the state of businesses and jobs, the Uttar Pradesh government has made a positive announcement regarding employment in the state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has claimed that there is no dearth of employment opportunities in the state.

According to the CM, during the lockdown itself, the state government has provided direct and indirect employment to 1.5 lakh people. Furthermore, the Uttar Pradesh government has claimed that it is in a position to provide employment to 15 lakh people, and that a post-lockdown action plan is already underway.

Speaking on the issue of migrant labourers, who are stuck in other states due to the suspension of inter-state road and rail traffic, the CM has said that the Uttar Pradesh government has sent out nodal officers to each state and has been communicating with other state ministries to ensure that the labourers face no trouble. The labourers who have returned will be put under quarantine and after the mandated 14 days of isolation, they will be sent back to their native villages with Rs 1000 and rations.

A total of 17 testing labs have been set up in the state, ten of which have been established in select state medical colleges. At the same time, new laboratories are also being set up with COVID sample collection centres across the state.
