Xavier School of Management (XLRI), one of the country’s premier business schools, has a new director. Fr. P. Christie, SJ, has stepped into the shoes of Fr E. Abraham SJ, who was director for two terms, that is, more than 16 years— the longest that a director of the institute has ever held the position.

Fr Christie was earlier director, Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), Chennai for 11 years. He joined LIBA in 1999, as assistant professor of Decision Sciences and went on to become the Dean before finally taking on the role of director.

Fr Christie, who holds an MBA and a Ph.D. in business administration from St. Louis University, St. Louis, USA also majored in decision sciences. He holds a master’s degree in statistics from Madras Christian College, Chennai too.

With considerable experience in evaluations and strategic planning, he has successfully taken on the position of consultant for various organisations within and outside India. He has also been part of the strategic planning of programmes for these organisations.

Admitting what a huge responsibility the position entails, Fr Christie shared that XLRI has grown and thrived on the basis of the four pillars of excellence, integrity and ethics, holistic growth of an individual, and social consciousness. He will soon be facilitating the achievement of XLRI’s goals, by ensuring that these pillars are further strengthened, and also see to the nurturing of responsible leaders who will work for the country’s inclusive and sustainable growth.
