Zaggle, the Indian SaaS fintech company, has announced the appointment of Paromita Deb Areng as its chief human resource officer (CHRO). She moves from Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, where she was group lead – HR.

With over 15 years of experience in HR business partnership and people management across financial services, manufacturing, pharma and healthcare, Areng will contribute towards strengthening Zaggle’s market leadership position in India. The Company — which is into the business of digitising business spends — will see Areng taking on the responsibility of designing and implementing its people strategy.

As part of her new assignment, she will also spearhead key initiatives such as organisational work culture and talent management.

Attracting, developing and retaining top performers across levels are Areng’s forte. She has successfully guided teams in the past to adopt a high-performance culture.

An alumna of the IIM Kozhikode, from where she did a PGDBM in HR and marketing, Areng started her career in HR with Boehringer Ingelheim as senior HR manager in 2015. She moved within a few months, to Mylan, as assistant general manager – HR. Her next stop was Roche, where she joined as senior human resources manager. During her five-year long successful tenure there, she handled multiple roles, including HRBP DC India, sales & corporate; lead – talent management & L&D; lead-compensation & benefits and even lead-HROPs.

In 2021, she joined Dr Reddy’s, where she lead the HR agenda mainly for finance, legal, compliance, digital & tech, HR, corp. comms, corp. affairs and so on across India, North America, Europe & emerging markets.

A versatile leader with strong interpersonal and networking skills, business acumen and stakeholder partnership, Areng is a social influencer with 8000+ followers on Twitter. She is also a certified PPA Practitioner (Thomas Profiling).

Under her able leadership, Zaggle hopes to expand its workforce to 1,000 by 2023, from the present strength of 350. The Company is looking for data scientists, business developers, sales personnel, product tech experts and so on, as part of its strategy to build innovative solutions for corporate spends, while also meeting the needs of SMEs and startups.

Having witnessed phenomenal growth over the last few years, it has accordingly tripled its employee strength to 350 in the last one year.

Known for her expertise in building high-performing teams, Areng has served as a trusted advisor to senior leaders in both Indian and multinational companies.

Raj N, founder and chairman, Zaggle, is confident that given her “vast experience across diverse industries and work cultures”, Areng is fit to “drive the overall talent strategy that supports Zaggle’s business plan and help build a nimble, creative organisation where people come together to work, play, innovate and create solutions for Enterprises & SMEs of the future”.

Avinash Godkhindi, MD and CEO, Zaggle, feels that “her people first philosophy and strong leadership will further enhance Zaggle’s vibrant work culture and transform our people practices”.

Areng herself is looking forward “to further augmenting the inclusive and diverse culture at Zaggle that encourages innovation, collaboration and personal development to align with its overarching objectives.”

Recently, Zaggle also onboarded Sathish N as its chief product officer, Vidyaniwas Khetawat as chief financial officer and Raghav Hari Choudhary as VP – investor relations & corporate development.
