Societe Generale has appointed Mukta Arya as head-HR, Asia Pacific region. Earlier, she was the head of talent development and inclusion, Asia-Pacific, in the same company but posted in Singapore.
Arya joined Societe Generale in March 2006 as the head of human resources for corporate and investment banking, private banking and SG Asia Holdings business lines. She went on to serve as the regional head of learning and talent management in 2010, in Hong Kong. Subsequently, she was promoted to director of human resources, SEA, a position she handled along with the earlier responsibility for learning and development.
Dual hatting in her role, she was responsible for planning and managing all human resource programmes and strategies for the entire SEA region.
Prior to Societe Generale, Arya was working with Ogilvy and Mather as talent head in Mumbai. During her three-year stint there, she was responsible for providing strategic direction in people issues to senior management for an office of 270 employees.
In 2001, Arya joined as the senior manager – HR, at the Tata Group, where she played a key role in developing new business initiatives, fostering employee engagement, and mobilising talent for the stock brokerage and mutual fund joint ventures.
Back in 1997, Arya began her career as a management trainee at the Essar Group, and was later promoted as the senior HR officer for seven holding companies in multiple industries.
Arya has spent over 22 years positioning HR as a business partner for excellence in multiple industries and different markets in Asia. She is passionate about creating effective and innovative HR solutions for global companies in multiple industries, including financial services, media and manufacturing.
