Tanaya Mishra, who was heading HR at Accenture, has now joined Essar Projects in Dubai. Between Accenture and Essar, she was making a living as a consultant.
Speaking to HRKatha from Dubai, on what prompted her to change tracks from consulting to the corporate world, she said, “I needed some time to take care of my ailing mother who was everything in the world to me. She was in ICU for about four months and then intermittently. I needed that time to myself, and therefore, chose to be a consultant. Unfortunately, she passed away in July,” said Mishra.
An emotional Mishra continued, “After settling things and getting a hold on my emotions, I decided to plunge back into corporate life, and here I am!”
Mishra holds a doctorate in manpower planning from Utkal University, Odisha. From the same University, she completed an LLB and also obtained a post-graduate diploma in personnel management and industrial relations.
She started her corporate career in the year 2000, as an HR manager at DHL. After what may be called a short stint, she moved to Firstsource, and spent two years as deputy HR general manager there. At Shoppers Stop, she led the people business from the top as head-HR, before moving on to lead HR at ACC Concrete and then, JSW.
Speaking about her mandate, Mishra shares, “The prime focus is to create a great place to work, and build a highly motivated team with a ‘never say die’ spirit. My focus will be to hire and build a pool of talented professionals with clear succession plans in place.”
A seasoned HR leader with numerous publications to her credit, Mishra has won many accolades and awards for her work. She has regularly participated in conferences and events and contributed immensely to the industry with her knowledge and experience in the subject. In the past, she was selected to be part of the prestigious CSC Commonwealth Leaders and invited to Oxford and Buckingham Palace.
Essar Projects handles engineering, procurement and construction for heavy industries. With her able leadership, Mishra will guard people practices at the organisation.
