Needless to say, this is a huge employment opportunity. Over the next few years, this plant will offer jobs to more than a 1000 people. Given the fact that CEAT is committed to empowering women, the plant will also focus on employing more women in the future.

While Rs 1,400 crore has already been invested in the plant, which is CEAT’s first greenfield plant, an additional Rs 4,000 will be invested over the next ten years. It covers an area of 163 acres, and claims to be one of the most advanced tyre plants in South Asia, capable of catering to developed markets and high-end automobile manufacturers.

While CEAT has other factories in Mumbai, Nasik, Halol, Ambernath and Nagpur, the Tamil Nadu facility has the added advantage of being located in a state that houses several automobile manufacturers, and is strategically situated close to the port. There is also availability of good quality labour. Therefore, the plant at Kanchipuram is all set to improve job opportunities and also the society and community in general.
