It will now penetrate Tier II and Tier III cities, increase its partner network and add another 3000 Paytm agents. It will also help shopkeepers in getting their product catalogues digitized.

Paytm Mall, the recently incorporated online shopping platform under Paytm e-commerce of One97 Communications, is about to hire 2,000 employees in 2017. The company plans to scale its operations and will hire employees for various businesses and tech positions.

The online shopping platform is in an expansion mode since it received a funding of USD 200 million from SAIF Partners and Alibaba Group Holdings recently, to grow its business.

More than 800 employees have been moved from One97 Communication to Paytm Mall, to address the potential in online commerce and grow its e-commerce business.

The company has formed a team of employees with a diverse set of skills and experiences to handle key roles effectively. This team has the responsibility of seeing and monitoring the various categories across the company.

As part of its expansion plan, it will now penetrate Tier II and Tier III cities,  increase its partner network and add another 3000 Paytm agents. It will also help shopkeepers in getting their product catalogues digitized.

The company will use mobile technology to make its wide array of products available to customers and help the retailers in catering to a larger number of customers.

Amit Sinha, COO, Paytm Mall, says, “We will make the largest selection of products available to customers on their smartphones, while empowering brands and local shopkeepers to sell online and offline with equal ease.”
