Trainees to be given the opportunity of a lifetime to groom themselves into competitive individuals with leadership skills…

Vodafone India, one of the country’s leading telecommunication service providers, will hire over 130 management trainees in 2015, through their ‘Discover Campus’ programme. Since the launch of the programme in 2010, Vodafone has hired 292 youngsters from the top 20 institutes, including IIM, XLRI, NMIMS and FMS.

The programme provides fast-track career growth, exciting and challenging opportunities and a potential to connect with fellow alumni.

The varied exposure across Vodafone’s B2B, B2C, technology and financial services makes the programme aspirational for the trainees. The wide distribution, and exclusive retail and customer management provides a chance to be entrepreneurial in terms of approach in a young company with a dynamic environment.

Speaking about the programme, Ashok Ramchandran, director, human resources, Vodafone India, said, “Vodafone’s Discover Campus programme is designed with the aim of identifying and grooming young leaders for bigger roles in the future. We expect our ideal Discover trainees to be shapers of the world around them and the business they work in—driven, entrepreneurial, competitive people who will live by the Vodafone Way and will be willing to travel and relocate to challenging markets.”

The Discover Campus programme is a 12-month development journey wherein prospective leaders undergo job stints in different functions and markets, depending upon their abilities and a predetermined path that ensures block building experience playing different roles. Throughout the journey, they get an opportunity to work with channel partners, the Internet and app ecosystem, business clients and also with exceptional colleagues and senior leaders across different stints. In each stint, they are provided with the knowledge and optimum exposure required in the function, granting them the chance to learn, shadow and experience corporate situations. This enables them to actively participate in the business and add value to Vodafone.

The top 5–10 per cent of the performers are selected for international assignments under ‘Columbus’ —Vodafone’s Graduate International Mobility programme.

This international assignment is an accelerated career path for graduates, to make an impact in the early stages of their career.
