35% of TCS workforce comprises women

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) ranked no.1 in the list of top 10 women’s employers in India, with 2.1 lakh women in its workforce

TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) is the leader in the second edition of the top 10 employers of women in the country, released by Burgundy Private (Axis Banks’ private banking business) and Hurun India. The Company is followed by Infosys, Wipro, HCL Technologies and Reliance Industries that employ 40, 36, 28 and 17 per cent women in their workforce, respectively.

The 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India  list contains some of the biggest women’s employers in the country and TCS is leading the list with 35 per cent women in its  workforce that is over two lakh strong. It is reported that TCS has the maximum number of employees in its workforce, globally, that is, 5,92,195.

Anas Rahman Junaid, MD and chief researcher, Hurun India said, “Women make up 16 per cent of the boards of the companies from the 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500. As India’s economy grows and the India 500 becomes bigger, expect the percentage of women board directors to grow too. The 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 are some of the biggest employers of women in the country led by Tata Consultancy Services, with about 2.1 lakh women employees.”

The other nine companies after TCS are Infosys, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Reliance Industries, Motherson Sumi Systems, Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Page Industries. While Infosys has 1.25 lakh women on board, Wipro has 88,946 women in its team. The corresponding figures for HCL and Reliance are 62,780 and 62,560, respectively. The tenth position was occupied by Page Systems, with a total of 22,631 women in the workforce.
