CRPF martyrs’ families to receive health premium

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), India’s largest central armed police force, on the occasion of its 81st anniversary, is providing comprehensive health cover to the family members of 2,200 of its personnel, who died in action. The full premium for the family members of its martyrs will be paid by the CRPF from its welfare fund.

The theme for the celebration of the 81st anniversary of the country’s 3.25 lakh strong largest paramilitary force is, ‘proud of our martyrs, we celebrate their valour’.

Till now, the family members had to pay the premium themselves to avail Government health care benefits.

The yearly premium amount is Rs 30,000 for the lowest ranking constable or jawan. The amount keeps rising as the ranks increase, with the premium for officers going up to Rs 1.20 lakh.

The full premium facility was already being availed by the 40 families of personnel who lost their lives in the Pulwama attack in 2019. Now the facility will be extended to families of all martyrs of CRPF.

Some MoUs have also been signed with disability support and information technology training organisations to reskill the members of the force who have had to undergo amputation or have been rendered disabled during action. Provisions are being made to arm such soldiers with alternate skills—in the areas of artificial intelligence, languages, cyberspace, and so on.
