The Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Human Resources Development and the All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in collaboration with Forge and InnovatioCurtis have launched a mega online challenge to test the ability of the students to innovate.

Called Samadhan, the title is an invitation to the youth of today to try and find viable solutions to major disasters such as the current coronavirus pandemic. The goal will be to devise measures which can be rapidly implemented and made available to the government agencies, healthcare services and hospitals among others.

In addition, apart from devising new ways to fight calamity-like situations, selected participants will also be working on citizenship awareness, on motivating the public to face any challenge and also work on helping people get livelihood.

Submissions of applications for the mega online competition have already begun from April 7th. Candidates are being given one week to file their applications, the last date for which is on April 14th. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to put forward their ideas and submit their entries for further consideration between April 18 and 23rd. After the contestants are selected for the final round, the list will be declared on April 24th and a grand jury will decide the winners of the competition on April 25th.

The students who participate in this challenge will be guided by a group of faculty members who will motivate them experiment and discover new ideas, providing them with a strong base to develop the spirit of learning and discovery. The idea behind this move is to use the existing bright and energetic human resource in the country and use their talents to find innovative solutions which are both technically and commercially viable, to the pandemic.
