    Benefits bonanza for Haryana Govt. employees

    The financial implication on account of increased allowances would be Rs 840 crore.

    Haryana Government has increased nine allowances for the state-government employees.

    These include:

    Fixed medical allowanceIncreased from Rs 500 to Rs 1000

    Children’s education allowanceIncreased from Rs 750 to Rs 1125 per month

    Uniform and washing allowance for Group DIncreased from Rs 240 to Rs 440 per month

    Non-Practice Allowance (NPA) for doctorsIncreased at the rate of 20 per cent of revised basic pay from 25 per cent pre-revised basic pay.

    Cycle allowanceIncreased from Rs 100 to Rs 200 per month

    Convenience allowance for the handicapped Increased at the rate of 8 per cent of basic pay and maximum Rs 4000

    Special allowance for safai karamcharisIncreased from Rs 325 to Rs 625 per month

    Travelling allowance and hill compensatory allowance2.5 per cent of basic pay subject to minimum of Rs 200 and maximum Rs 400 has been increased to minimum Rs 350 and maximum Rs 700.

    In addition, the Government has introduced a special allowance for childcare to women employees with disabilities as also enhancement of many Haryana-specific allowances. The amount for the same has been fixed at Rs 1,500 per month per child.

    Besides, a Committee has been formed to revise the House Rent Allowance (HRA) admissible to the state-government employees on the pattern of the central government. The Committee will make its recommendation both on quantum of increase and the date from which it would be applicable. The Committee would submit its report at the earliest.

    The enhancement of nine allowances is on the pattern of the 7th Pay Commission. The increase in all these allowances would be effective from May 1, 2018.

    The Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal, made these announcements while addressing the senior IAS, IFS and IPS officers at the State-level function on the occasion of the 12th Civil Services Day in Panchkula.

    He said that the allowances have been increased in consultation with various employees’ unions.

    The financial implication on account of increased allowances will be Rs 840 crore.
