MeritTrac launches employability enhancement tool for graduates

The new tool evaluates cognitive abilities and communication skills every year and offers feedback.

MeritTrac Services has launched an evaluation exercise ‘Graduate Employability Assessment’, to enhance the employability quotient of students.

The assessment-based employability enhancement programme will review the progressive skill growth through recurring evaluation, over three years. It will evaluate cognitive abilities and communication skills. Every year, the students will get a comprehensive feedback report with recommendations to improve. The objective is to enhance employability among graduates.

The examination is proctored and conducted by MeritTrac.

Vasu K Saksena, CEO, MeritTrac, says, “The scientifically driven evaluation report not only attempts to find out the rate of employment for a candidate, but also acts like a comparative study to check the industry standards, which facilitates the recruiter to promptly analyse the certified highlights and shortcomings of the graduates.”

The assessment tool involves three interventions. In the first year, the students at the academic institutions will have to undergo a diagnostic assessment, which will evaluate the areas of strength, weakness and improvement.

In the second year, the candidates’ progress achieved from the diagnostic stage will be measured and highlighted.

A final employability assessment will be administered in the third year — four months and two months before the commencement of the campus recruitment season— to certify the candidates’ job-readiness.

Along with the employability evaluation, the candidates would also undergo personality assessment.

The Company claims that the documentation can become an easy tool for a graduate to draft his/her resume and can also be a talking point during the interview.

Besides, the colleges and universities can also use this tool to showcase their institutions’ average employability scores. This will help them attract recruiters to far flung campuses.

The report claims to be handy even for the recruiters as they can filter students, who are high on academics and employability, for interviews. They can also go to those institutions whose average employability scores are high in comparison to the industry benchmark.
