In a bid to boost the employment figures of the State, the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) government has reportedly deployed over 11,000 of its employees to the Union Territory of Ladakh. The total number of appointments made by the State is 11,189 for 33 departments of the Union Territory of Ladakh. The highest number of recruits, a total of 4,131, have been taken on for the School Education Department.

The recruitment was made by the state after the concerned administrative departments furnished the verified details of the employees.

The breakdown of deployment of employees across departments is as follows: 1,943 to Home Department, 1,753 to Health and Medical Education and 943 to Animal/Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department, 444 in Jal Shakti Department, 374 in Power Development Department, 326 Youth Services and Sports, 263 Public Works, 224 in Finance, 158 Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, 128 in Housing and Urban Development, 42 in Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, five in ARI & Trainings, 24 in Culture, 100 Cooperatives, along with minor increments in the workforce of other departments of the Ladakh administration.

The order also reveals that the General Administrative Department of Ladakh will be sharing representation of 3,369 employees with J&K. The credentials of these employees are being verified with concerned Administration departments and will take more time for validation.

Further, the government of J&K has recalled 22 officials, who at present are deputed to Ladakh, to Jammu and Kashmir. They will be reporting to the finance department of the government.
