    G Jawahar to be appointed director – HR, BEML

    The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), put together by the Indian government, has recommended that Dr G Jawahar be appointed director – human resources at Bharat Earth Movers or BEML, a public-sector undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Defence.

    Jawahar, is presently serving as executive director (human resources), at Power Finance Corporation (PFC), which is part of the Ministry of Power.

    Having joined PFC in 2013, as general manager – HR, Jawahar has been with the Corporation for well over nine years.

    Jawahar has completed an MBA in management from Madurai Kamaraj University and holds a PhD in human resource management – training and development sector, from Jamia Millia Islamia.

    In the initial years of his career he served as HR officer at National Hydro-electric Power Corporation for two years and nine months. There he was involved with manpower planning, recruitment and sourcing, as well as employee relations.

    His longest stint was with Powergrid Corporation of India, where his last-held position was that of deputy general manager (HRD and training). During his long and successful tenure there, he was responsible for recruitment and sourcing, employee engagement as well as evolving HR strategy and vision.

    He was also involved in designing and planning HRD intiatives across the organisation, training need identification and training evaluation, organisation development initiatives, action research, mentoring and coaching of employees, train the trainer, emotional intelligence with group learning process planning. He was responsible for developing a learning organisation and positive work culture. He served as an internal consultant for developing the leadership pipeline.
