    Amit Malik joins Wadzpay as president – South Asia & Pacific

    Wadzpay, a fintech firm has appointed Amit Malik as its new president – South Asia & Pacific. Malik has shared this development on social media. Prior to this, Malik was the CEO & MD at Aviva Life Insurance. He had decided to take a professional break for some time.

    “As I enjoyed the break, I also had the time to focus on the opportunities that bring in new challenges and enable me to define my next frontier,” writes Malik in his post.

    In a post shared by Wadzpay, the Company states that under the leadership of Malik, the it hopes to grow and build on its strategic direction. It also hopes to build new partnerships under Malik’s leadership.

    Malik spent close to 13 years with Aviva Life Insurance. He joined the Company in 2012 and went on to take up the role of chief people officer. Eight years into his tenure at the firm, Malik took on additional responsibilities and served as the chief people, operations and customer service officer.

    In 2021, he became one of those rare HR leaders to take up the role of a CEO & MD at Aviva Life Insurance.

    Before his stint with Aviva, Malik had served in various HR-leadership roles with big brands such as American Express, GSK Consumer Healthcare, ABN Amro Bank and Bank of America.

    For almost four years, Malik was deputy manager – HR at GlaxosmithKline Consumer Healthcare before he moved to American Express as manager, in 2003.

    Having successfully served a four-year stint at American Express, he moved to ABN Amro Bank as VP-HR, in 2007. Within two years he became vice president & HR business partner- retail bank.

    His next stop was Bank of America, where he joined as vice president & HR business partner: consumer card ops, processing centres & enabling functions, in 2010. In this role, he supported a workforce of 4500+ across India and led an HR team of 17 human resource professionals.

    This alumnus of the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management has completed a course in strategic human resource practices in the field of human resource development, from the School of Industrial & Labour Relations – Cornell University.

    Malik is also trained in the Art & Science of Coaching from the International Coaching Federation.
